Mission: Partnerships
Hands @ Work Africa
The mission of Hands at Work, through their relationship with
the local Church in Africa, is to challenge, encourage, develop
and support the ministry of servanthood among those in need
in their community. They believe the biblical mandate to care
for the dying, widows and orphans is not only for the Church
in Africa, but also elsewhere, and Hands at Work desire to be
a prophetic voice to the Churches outside Africa, challenging
them to fulfil their mandate.
Their 8 core values are:
We are Christian / We are committed to the Body
of Christ / We value people / We are committed to the poor /
We are responsive / We are committed to local community ownership
of projects / We are stewards / We are partners
The Forge Community Church joined up with Zion Christian Fellowship
in the West Midlands in their partnership with a Hands @ Work
project, headed up by Pastor Jacob and Annie’s church in
North Zambia. We are joining them in their amazing work among
the poorest people of the world. It involves:
- Home Based Care. 300 volunteers from a variety of Zambian
churches visiting & caring for people with AIDS in their
homes.
- Supporting Schools. One based at the church and 2 Bush based.
- Running children’s camps
Zion has been supporting this project over the last few years,
by sending out people aged between 17-70, who work on building
teams, as counsellors to train home based care workers, teachers
to train volunteer teachers, Children’s team workers,
physios, opticians, dentists amongst many others.
