Mission: Interested in Mission

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it..."

Sometimes it is easy to wish that God’s call on our lives would be as specific and as clear as the instructions Tom Cruise receives in the Mission Impossible movies. Yet, whether you have a vague feeling of being unsettled by God to do something different, a strong desire to make a difference in the world or you are thinking about a gap year, MCF would like to partner with you in your journey to understand what it is that God is saying and where it might lead.

The need on our planet is obvious. The mission of the church is clear – to build His church, to commit our lives to justice and compassion for this suffering world. So as a church we have begun to imagine what it might look like for our community, with all its amazing resources and energy, to dive headlong into God’s mission. We want to be the kind of church that care about the kind of things Jesus cares about and to do something about it. And if you are reading this – I guess you feel the same way.

MCF wants to partner with you in this whole process. The benefit for you, whether you choose an existing MCF partnership or something that you’ve identified yourself, is that we can support you prayerfully and practically as you work through this challenge. We want to be your ‘sending’ church. Although there is a sense of great adventure in all of this, there will also be tough times (physical and emotional) and we want to stand with you through these times, too.

Currently MCF is beginning to focus this energy in Europe (a church in Croatia), America (street kids in Denver) and Africa (a health care project for children and families in Zambia) but we want to walk with you wherever God is leading.

Three essential steps to maximising your mission involvement with MCF

1. Ask

Begin by talking to God about this call to mission that you feel. It’s probably good to talk with people you trust about it as well and to pray with them. Then go a step further and contact the Church Office who will put you in touch with someone from the leadership or mission team to begin talking this through. You could also visit the MCF website and discover more about MCF's partnerships abroad and other MCF people’s experiences.

2. Attend

To understand specific opportunities and support that MCF can offer, come along to the next ‘Mission Information’ evening which takes place twice a year at the MCF Office. These evenings will give you a chance to talk through where you are in the whole process.

3. Arrange

To explore mission opportunities more specifically, meet up with the MCF Mission team (via the office) to talk through your next steps. They’ll help you to understand your skills, gifts and passions and can help you identify where in the world you may wish to serve and in what time frame. There is much MCF can offer by way of advice and support.

So if you’ll make this your mission, we will commit to helping you with your discovery, training and support. We will aim to provide you with the help you’ll need to keep focused on the task at hand; things like advice about raising support, getting your small group involved, access to MCF leaders, preparation and helping with identifying next steps. It will be an exciting journey and one that you will not need to take on your own.

“This message will self destruct in 5 seconds…!”
